Personal Statement
I haven't necessarily always loved Cross Country, I had to grow into it. I fell in love with the sport in 8th grade then quickly took a disliking to it in 9th grade. As well as taking a disliking to the sport, I started to hate school. I didn't try; it seemed easier to procrastinate and pretend homework didn't exist. Track rolled around freshman year and I was apart of the 4x8 team with three of my Cross Country teammates. I still didn't try as hard as I should've. The year finished out and I went to the PIAA State Track Meet with my friend who qualified. It was one of the best things that I've ever been to. It was so neat to watch these ridiculously fast, strong, and determined people. After attending, I felt that one day, I wanted to make it to states on my own, whether it be through Cross Country or Track, I wanted to do it. I spent the next summer training everyday, eating right, and going to every XC practice provided. I wanted to get better at running and with that, I went from getting B's and below to having straight A's. Although my GPA isn't where I want it now, I'm doing everything in my favor to get it up by taking weighted classes that are provided and staying at an A average. As of now, my XC PR is a 21:53 and I am now training for the 2018 Track season.
