Personal Statement
My love for the sport started when I was in middle school. Being from a rural area, track and field and cross-country does not have the same resources and support as football. Many of the schools in my area have programs in the elementary school. Mine did not. My high school has only two girls that run cross-country and eight girls for track and field. My love for track field/cross-country started in middle school. What influenced and gave me the drive to be successful was my 8th grade year. I ran cross-country as an individual. This was due to not having a coach or enough girls to form a team. This experience helped me grow as a person and an athlete. The things that I learned are the three “Ds”: determination, discipline and drive. This experience gave me the confidence needed to role model on and off the field.
My drivers are my faith, my family, and my dedication. I am looking for a program that will allow me to pursue my passion for academics and track and field. I not only have the talent to compete for a college team, but also the humanity, leadership, and work ethics to impact your team. As a three-sport athlete and team captain, I know I have what it takes to be a leader and an influencer for your team.
