Hi! My name is Isla Sanchez, and I am an upcoming senior for the class of 2025 at Bel Air High School in El Paso, Texas. I am a multi-sport athlete, in which I play volleyball and run track. I compete in the 200m, the 4x100, 4x200, and high jump. Ever since I was little, I've loved competition and running, especially racing against others in elementary school. Everyday during lunch time, I'd race against other kids, running as fast as I could to cross the finish line first. My love for competition and running runs deep in the great passion and love I share for this sport, and I would be truly honored to continue on at the collegiate level. Running track at the college level will allow me to accomplish my goals of developing more athletic skills to set higher goals, experiencing the sport at a different level with new teammates, coaches, and competition, and overall, continuing the sport I love while getting stronger mentally and physically as an athlete. I plan to major in aerospace engineering, and aspire to be an aerospace engineer at NASA one day. As a student, I love learning new things and acquiring new skills. I work to maintain my grades at a high average, while still challenging myself to take advanced and dual-credit courses. I enjoy putting in the extra time and effort to reach my goals, for I firmly believe nothing worth having comes easy, so I must work hard to achieve what I set my mind to. Track allows me to set goals for myself and challenges me to work towards them. I believe having fun is important, but you must also stay focused and grounded to who you are as an individual, and an athlete. I love track with a deep passion, and I hope to expand my skills and knowledge in college.
