Personal Statement
My name is Elizabeth Lohstroh and I go to Coram Deo Academy in Flower Mound, TX. When I started running track my 6th grade year, I fell in love with the sport and began to run it every season. I have a passion and love for the sport like no other, despite having played basketball, volleyball, and soccer. I am constantly focused on not simply my individual success, but the success of the team.
I always look to try new things and compete in new ways, especially in track. I have played four sports over my time at CDA, and I am currently in both track and soccer. Before my sophomore year, I mostly competed in running events, but during the 2017 season, I started doing high jump and eventually went to the regional USATF meet for the heptathlon, even after learning some events only the week before. During my freshman year, my 4x400 team made it to the TAPPS state meet, and I went back again my sophomore year to compete in high jump, 200m, and 400m, becoming an all state athlete in the 400m.
In addition to athletics, academics and volunteering are important to me. I have been a summa cum laude student all 5 years I have attended CDA, and this year I am taking 4 AP classes in addition to my regular classes. I have gone to Guatemala on two mission trips in 2014 and 2015, volunteered for a year at The Village Church, and became a special needs counselor at Camp Blessing two summers in a row. I hope that the college I go to will offer opportunities for extra curricular and volunteer work.
