My name is Veronica Ambrosionek from Frisco, Texas, and I have found a deep passion for the sport of running from a young age. However, I started competitively running and moderately training whenever I was in 7th grade. From 7th grade forward, I decided to devote my time and energy into becoming a successful runner. Throughout middle school, I broke my school's 800m and 1600m records and I broke the district record in the 2400m.
Going into high school, I continued to take running seriously, and my freshman year, I broke my high school's record in the 5k. After cross country season, I became privately coached by 2004 Olympian Jonathan Johnson. His expertise in the sport allowed me to break my high school's 800m, 1600m, and 3200m records in my freshman year track season. Before my freshman 2020 track season ended, in the 800m, I was ranked first in my district, second in the region, and ninth in the state.
During the following cross country season, my hard work and dedication resulted in me improving my 5k time from 19:42 my freshman year to 17:39 my sophomore year and I was able to place 6th in the 5a UIL State Cross Country Championships (2020). I am consistently training and improving my PR's throughout high school, and I am very eager to run collegiately.
I am looking forward to the rest of my track and cross country seasons in high school and I cannot wait to run faster times and keep on building strong bonds with my track team.
Even though I am passionate about running, I am just as dedicated to my school work. Specifically, I am devoted to studying an advanced level of mathematics- I taught myself Algebra II the summer going into my sophomore year so that I could be two years ahead in math. I was my school's top ranked student out of over 560 students in my freshman and sophomore year due to my hard-work and dedication; my GPA is currently a 5.3740 out of roughly 5.5 weighted and 4.0/4.0 unweighted. I have taken 9 AP classes and several honors classes throughout high school so far, so I am ready to take rigorous college courses and adhere to my major's demands.
As a persistent athlete and student, I will be a great runner, student, and teammate for your college team.
