Sydney Gandy '16 Recruiting Profile

Hello,
My name is Sydney Gandy. I am currently a senior at Seven Lakes High school in Katy, Texas.   I am looking for a college that will support both my athletic and academic aspirations.  One of my goals while in college  is to compete in sports at the collegiate level.  I have experience competing in Track and Field and Cross Country at both the State and National Levels.  My race experience ranges from the open 400m to the 5K .  Before narrowing my focus on Running, I also competed in the sport of Soccer.  I competed at both the High School and Club Levels and also experienced State and National levels in that sport as well.

Academically, my career aspiration is to be a Sports Medicine Physician.  My interest in this field comes from my love for both science and sports.  I have done well in my science courses. I use learnings from my class as a part of my training.  I attended a medical leadership forum in the summer of 2013 to see if my interest were genuine. It was an amazing experience and really let me know sports medicine was something I wanted to do.  I get to do two things that I love, study medicine while playing sports.  I really like helping people.  My selfless behavior is what I attribute to myself and my teams winning races. 


As a student athlete I understand that competition both in and out of the classroom requires a person to be physically, mentally and spiritually balanced.  Something I learned from my family.  These qualities I focus on daily.  I am an active listener a key skill I know for success.  With my experiences and exposures to sports excellence, I know I will be an influential competitor to you team and school.
