In second grade, I competed in my first triathlon and that ignited the spark of my love for running. The following year, I started running more and I ran my first 5K. Since then I have competed in many races each year ranging from triathlons to cross country to track. I also swim year round for a local club. Swimming and cross training for triathlons have helped me improve as an athlete and stay healthy. For the past 5 years, I have qualified and competed at the USA Triathlon National Championship for youth age group and Youth Elite, placing from 5th to 25th place. As a freshman at Clements High School, I ran on my school's Varsity cross country and track and field teams. I was the district champion for my school district, Fort Bend ISD and also made it to state. My goal is to continue my love of running in college and get a great education.
I really enjoy helping others succeed in running. For example, over the past few summers I have helped younger kids at run camp by motivating them, training alongside them, and encouraging them to push themselves. I am constantly pushing myself to improve and never give up, even when I'm not having my best race.
I am aiming for a Division I school, but am open for any division. I am a competitive, hard working, and coachable student athlete. I would love to go to a school where I am challenged, can help my team mates succeed and feel like part of a family. Right now, as a sophomore, I am aiming for a sub 19 5K as well as making it to state again for cross country. Also, I am a well-rounded student and have been able to balance training for running and triathlons with keeping up with my academics on a high level.
