Personal Statement
My long-term goal is to pursue a pre-veterinarian program that will prepare me well for veterinarian school. My short-term goal is to be the best athlete, student, and person I can be. These goals are achievable through grit, perseverance, and passion. Through great coaching and hard work, every year I have improved and know that I have not reached my maximum performance and will continue to progress. Growing up in a military family, I learned the power of determination in the face of challenges. Over the first 10 years of schooling, I attended 10 different schools which meant finding new friends, discovering new places, playing for new coaches. These experiences make me different than most athletes and students because I am not afraid of change and throw myself into the mix with the passion and willpower needed for the success of me, my family, and team. Through sports I found instant camaraderie and motivation to excel. I listened and learned from the coaches and through my teammates made friends and ensured I worked hard so the team could achieve anything. Animals are where I feel my drive for the future and through working with them and mentors I learned how fragile our world is and how every living thing needs assistance. My desire to challenge myself and help is why I have chosen to pursue being a vet. Running is my passion and through it the doors to achieve my goals will be opened. I look forward to continuing to participate in the two things most vital to me…team and animals.
