Personal Statement
Aside from running I am passionate about politics and government. I work as a leader at the regional and local level for JSA (Junior Statesmen of America) in order to fight apathy. At school I am a year ahead in all of my classes and particularly challenge myself in history. As a junior I am taking AP American government and AP comparative government and love it, I hope to take classes like these and consider a political science major in college. I am a member of ASPEN (Aids Student Peer Educators at Newport) in which we go around the school to classes educating about sexual health. I love ASPEN because in the midst of all the school and college stress it makes me feel like I'm a part of something bigger than myself and making a difference in my community. I am the captain of my cross country team and love my team more than anything. Every run and meet is so fun because we're all best friends. In college I don't want to lose that type of community and am looking for a team that is supportive and closely bonded.
