Personal Statement

I am a 5'8 137lb long jumper at Ellensburg High School, WA. I have always been drawn to sports and athletics, where I often find my biggest competitor to by myself. My academic ambitions help to reflect this, and while I am always aiming for a 4.0 GPA, I like to challenge myself with AP and honors classes because I am always striving for self improvement.  I have been competing in track for four years now, three of them in varsity and qualified for state championships last year. I am passionate about and dedicated to my athletic career. This includes training in the off season and giving my best in both practice and competition.  Last year I had the opportunity to train with Central Washington University's jump coach and was able to learn and understand how to train properly and efficiently for my event. I have used this to continue self directed training, progressing my technique through drill after school and increasing my strength in the gym. My goal is to attend a university with an excellent math and science program where I can focus on both schoolwork and track.
