Personal Statement
My name is McKenzie Luth, . I am 5'9 and weigh 115 pounds. I am a sprinter. My 400m time is 57.19, 200m 25.8 and 4 by 400 meters 3:58 .Also my fastest 5k time was a 19:37.I have been running track for the past 9 years now. I have won Rookie of the Year, Falcon of the Year, and have been voted team captain for my freshman year and senior year. My 4 by 400 meter relay team made it to state and placed 5th. But the most important and exciting accomplishment for me was placing 2nd in the 400 meters in the state meet my junior year. I also hold my schools 400m and 4 by 400 meters records.
When I started track in the fourth grade I found the place that I belonged and fell in love with the sport right off the bat. I have always dreamed of running for a college team. I feel that coaches would love to have me be apart of their team.I show strong leadership skills. During my freshman year I was team captain. And at the end of this last year I was picked to be captain again for my senior year in high school. I was really proud to have earned that award.I also am an extremily hard worker. I stay after practice to work on improving and getting extra help from my coaches. I always have a positive attitude and even when the workout is hard I do not complain, I have learned over the years that with hard work comes great results.
Schools that I am interested are mostly in urban settings and have a climate that is conducive to training year round. I would like to attend a bigger school. I like the size of D1 and D2 schools. I'm really not looking for anything smaller than that. I also would like to go to a good academic school. One where if my pathway of study changes I will be able to find classes to support my interests. I am currently interested in studying psychology and exploring careers in that field.
My family will be applying for the FAFSA this year in January.
Right now my goals for myself in the next year are to drop my 400 and 200 times. I would like to run somewhere in the 54's for my 400m and I would like to drop my 200 time to a low 24. After my senior year of high school, I would like to attend a college and be able to run for their team.
