Personal Statement

My name is Kaylee Olson and I am from De Pere, Wisconsin. I’ve participated in many sports throughout my life, but over the years the one that really seemed to stick was track. The rush that it gives me is simply incomparable to any other sport. The feeling of crossing the finish line or hitting that mark on a jump is the best feeling in the world. Track and Field to me is all about pushing your boundaries and giving 110%, 100% of the time. I’m always looking to improve my skill level and I am all about asking questions so I know what I’m doing wrong and how I can fix it.

Over the past three years, I have made it to the WIAA State Championships 3 times, I am a 3-time state qualifier in the long jump and a 2-time state qualifier in the 400m relay. I also have broken multiple school records, including the 100m dash, long jump, and the 400m and 800m relays. Along with that, I have also broken meet, stadium and long-standing Bay Conference long jump triple jump records.  However, many of these accomplishments could not have been reached without a number of setbacks and obstacles. Both my freshman and sophomore years in track were definitely huge learning experiences for me. I struggled a lot with my confidence, and I would beat myself up whenever I messed up. But over time, and with the support of my coaches and teammates, I learned how to forget and move on. I feel that track and field is more than a sport to me.  It has taught me so much about myself, life and it’s also my second family. My experiences in track have made me the person I am today. I’m very excited for what the future holds.
