As a track and field runner and student, I am very determined and self-driven. I am always striving to improve. I believe I am very coach able and will always attempt anything asked of me.
I started track 5 years ago and started off running the 800 and the 400, very quickly I discovered I am a shorter distance runner and started running the 100 and 200. After my first 100 race I knew It was something I wanted to improve in and stick with the rest of my high school career as well as the 200. My 8th grade year I started pole vaulting which I quickly fell in love with because it was so different from every event. I worked very hard to improve in pole vault and started to take it more seriously the beginning of my freshmen year. By the end of my freshmen year I qualified to compete in the State Track and Field competition and ended up tying at 9'6 with some of my fellow competitors. After my freshman season I went back to competing in volleyball, however during my sophomore season I tore my front and back Labrum in my shoulder. I ended up having to get surgery on my shoulder in October of that year. After months of recovery I was ready to get back to track and start competing again. Getting back to pole vault was once of my hardest challenges. I worked on getting back to where I left off all season, but I fell short of my goal and did not qualify for State this past year for any of my events and even missed the qualification by one place in the 100. I am now in my junior year and have even more drive than I did before and am determined to work as hard as I can to achieve my goal this upcoming season.
