My name is Allissa Nelson and I am a senior at Sun Prairie High. I am very passionate about Track and Field and do everything in my power to reach my full potential and support my team. In the off season I work out with a group of girls from my team. I am pleased to say that this group grows everyday, as not only is my personal success that is important to me, but the success of my team as well. We are mostly jumpers and spriters so we spend a lot of time in the weight room lifting and doing explosion drills, though we always make sure to add hills to our weekly scedual. I currently run the 100m High Hurdles, 200, 400, Long Jump and High Jump. This season I plan on adding the 800. In college I am looking to become a heptathlete so that I may continue to participate in all events.
My team has expirienced a lot of success, we were the Big 8 Conference, Regional, and Sectional champions for the last 4 years. I think a huge part of this sucess was how close and supportive we are as a team. Individually I hold the 100m High Hurdle school record at 14.55 seconds, I took 9th in the 100m High Hurdles and 8th in the 4x400m relay at state, It was my first year long jumping and I took 4th at sectionals with a jump of 17ft 2in, I was captain of the Cross Country team, I was named hardest worker in Cross Country my sophomore year, was named most outstanding sophomore in Track, and last year was named MVP of the Track and field team.
In college I plan on studying Nursing. I am looking for a mid-large school, and a team that is like a family, but will push me everyday to reach my full potential.
