Personal Statement
-
My core values include working hard, always seeking to improve, respecting others and striving to make a positive impact. These values have motivated me to compete in track since 3rd grade. Over the years, I’ve gained resilience and confidence by running track and my love for the sport continues to grow.
I am now 16 years old, 5'8 and 150 lbs. I continue to improve, achieving the following PR’s last season:
- 100m @ 11.91
- 200M @ 24.38
- 400m @ 57.57
In addition to loving track, I also love learning and my core values motivate me to be the best student I can be. I attend the #2 ranked high school in Wisconsin (ranked #219 nationally). I work hard to balance track practice and academics, achieving a current GPA of 3.3 and a cumulative GPA of 3.1. In addition, I am a leader in the classroom and on the track by serving on our school’s Black Student Committee and mentoring junior members of my track club.
I aspire to continue to pursue my love for tack, build on my running skills, further my academic pursuits and apply my leadership skills in college. My goal is to run track at the collegiate level for a large school (15,000-30,000 students) with a diverse student body. Also, being from Wisconsin, I would appreciate experiencing warmer weather for once in my life! Finally, I want to study business and/or pre-law in pursuit of my dream to be a trial attorney and/or senator.
In short, I am driven to compete at the highest level possible on the track and in the classroom. Furthermore, I am equally as driven to positively contribute to the college community, track team and classroom.
