I aspire to participate on a collegiate track and field team. High school sports have taught me to become a leader on and off the field and I would like to continue that growth during my college career. I have an un-canny knack for building relationships with my peers, teachers, and coaches. I believe that building strong relationships will help me excel as a student and athlete, both now and in the future. Sports have taught me patience, the value of hard work, and the importance of independence, leadership, dedication, and commitment. My high school athletic career has been fun, but beyond a good time, I have taken every thing in as a stepping stone to being the best athlete I can be for myself and my team. As a senior, my indoor track team does not have a traveling coach. I have taken it upon myself to make sure that the underclassman can come to me for advice. Now, only 3 weeks in, they rely on me in practices and at meets to improve and succeed. I look forward to taking those skills to the next level.
Unlike other recruits I am a thrower and a runner. My freshman, sophomore, and junior year I was told to make the choice between running and throwing. But, I have a passion for both and I was not willing to give one up, I was and am however, willing to put in extra time and effort to do my best at both of them. Most kids would have caved and made a choice. I am not most kids, hard work is the only way I know.
Struggle would be an understatement if you were to ask me about my academic career. Ever since elementary school, I have had to fight harder and work longer than most kids just to get by. When letters, words, and numbers look backwards to you, nothing is easy. Unlike my peers, I don't spend time going out to lunch, I spend it in the classroom because I am dedicated to achieving the high bar I set for myself in the classroom. To highlight my academic commitment, I would like to share one last achievment. My junior year of high school I participated in Girls State. I spent one week in a mock government with other junior girls from around the state. I was one of six bills to get passed and put into Girls State law, Lastly, I was one of a select few to return in 2025 as a junior counselor for the next selection of girls.
All this to say, I thrive when I am working hard. Athletics give me an opportunity to build relationships and be the leader I know I can be.
