My name is Mackenzie Marler and I am an upcoming junior at Cheyenne East High School in Cheyenne Wyoming and I am a hardworking athlete and strive to do the best I possibly can within my athletics and education. I am dedicated within the sports I play which include Cross country, indoor track and soccer. I have been on the varsity cross country team since I was a freshman and have been named all state since my freshman year with a 2nd and 3rd place finish at the Wyoming State Cross Country Meet. I was also named 2nd team All Region at the Nike Northwest Cross Country Championships my freshman year; and I was named one of the Future Stars of Cross country by Asics and Mile Split my freshman year. In addition, to Cross Country I also run Indoor track. The 2016-2017 season was the first year I ran indoor track and I was named all-state in two events, which included the 1600 meter and the 800 meter. I am the Wyoming 4A State Champion in the 1600 meter and was 2nd in the 800 meter. This Cross Country season I was the Wyoming 4A State Cross Country champion. This post season I ran at the Nike Cross Northwest Regional and placed 4th and qualified for Nike Cross Nationals. With my first two years of high school done I am excited to see what the next two years will bring. Not only are athletics important but I strongly believe that your academics are as well. Which is why I strive to do well in the classroom. My overall GPA for my first two years of high school is a 3.9 and I got a 4.0 this 2016-2017 school year. I am also enrolled within the International Baccalaureate Program which is more challenging than standard AP classes.
I personally have many goals I would like to accomplish throughout my high school career and on into college and It is my dream to run in college while receiving a good education. If I were given the opportunity I would work the hardest I possibly can to help myself and my team excel. I would work hard everyday and take in every moment. When it comes to choosing what school I would like to go to I am open to going anywhere. But if I got the chance to choose I would love to look at Oregon, California, Colorado, etc. But overall I am open minded to the colleges and would like to find a college that fits me best on and off the field or track. If I am given the opportunity to get a good education and run I will be happy! My top choice of my major for college would be sports medicine. Overall, my athletic goal would be to continue running at a competitive and elite level and hopefully get the opportunity to as well in college.
