Ever since I began playing volleyball when I was young, I knew that this sport would be my passion and the sport that I will fall in love with. I started playing volleyball when I was in the fifth grade and I've been in love ever since. I knew then that I would want to countinue my volleyball career when I was able to get the chance to. My goal is to earn a college degree and further my volleyball career. I am well aware that accomplishing my goal will take a lot of work and dedication but I am prepared to do whatever it takes to reach it. I have decided this is what is important to me and I will do everything I can to further my career.
I have a busy schedule academically and athletically. I have workouts for one hour every day and practice for 2.5 hours everyday. After practice, I will usually leave the school and workout on my own for 1-2 hours every other day. I have learned to manage my time with sports and to keep up with my academics. I work hard to succeed in both things that I do and I am looking for a school that is interested in my athletic ability and that will allow me to pursue my goal to become a dental hygienist as well.
I am attending Madison County Highschool in Gurley, Alabama as a junior graduating in the class of 2019. I play volleyball for a varsity school team and I am on the Varsity team in softball. I have played club volleyball my 8th grade year and in highschool it interfered with softball, the game I've also played my entire life. But after long thoughts about which sport I really want to continue my career in, I've decided to continue my volleyball career and start playing club volleyball again this coming up season of 2017-2018 with NACA (North Alabama Christian Atheltics) 18U. I spend my free time practicing with my volleyball team and finding a way to stay active, whether that means going to the gym by myself or taking a run around the track for 2 hours by myself. I don't mind doing things that keep me active alone. I believe that if you really want to pursue your goal, you must put in the extra work behind the practices and games. Be the one that stands out and be the one that works harder than the others.
I am a defensive specialist playing left or right back. My freshman year in highschool I was a starter as a libero. I am experienced with any position in the back row. I have grown to love the sport and absoutley love the position I am playing. Every play, I WANT the ball to be hit to me, I WANT the play to continue because of me. I am a very competitive player that will do what is necessary for my team to win. Not only will I play to my athletic ability, but I will make smart plays. It's not always about being the one to make the greater play, it's about being the one that makes the smarter play. I am looking for a school that will allow me to help their team in any way I can. I will build my teams attitude up and keep them alive and energetic on and off the court. I am confident in my skills and I hope that you will allow me to pursue my goal as a college volleyball player.
Sincerely,
Savannah Ledwell, defensive specialist '19.
