Personal Statement
My name is Willo Hawkins from Prosper, Tx where I moved from Palmer, Alaska in the summer of 2019. Living in Alaska made chances for me to play volleyball limited, but moving to Texas where my parents are from has opened up a lot of opportunities. Adjusting to Texas volleyball has been very fun as the pace is much faster and we get to play a lot more at the school and club levels. Volleyball is one of the most important aspects in my life and feel has kept me focused on school and life in general. I love playing Libero/DS because I feel I get to play all aspects of the game (SR, digs, sets, and occasional attacks). I have been very fortunate and got to play with some great teams in Texas. Prosper opened a new high school this year and in our first season we qualified for playoffs and had back-to-back state champs in our district. In my 20/21 Club season I was moved up to the top team for my club and got to play with some amazing teammates. Also this last year a friend talked me into powerlifting, which I had never lifted weights, besides conditioning workouts prior and I made it to the Texas State Power Lifting Meet, where I placed 6th. I look forward to growing as a volleyball player and student. I have recently decided I want to pursue a Psychology degree and be a therapist in the future. I feel comfortable playing LB or MB and am a fast learner and have always been told I am very coachable. Teammates and coaches love my positivity and encouragement and will always bring 100%.
