Personal Statement

August 2021

In October 2020 I had committed to a university. In my final match at the state championship, I got injured. The university said, at the time, they would support me through my recovery and extended an NLI offer. Unfortunately, for whatever reason when I arrived on campus the sentiment had changed and they told me that they would not extend my scholarship beyond my first year, would never clear me medically, and gave me the option of canceling my NLI.

I have been cleared for volleyball activity (by two different doctors) and I’m interested in continuing my volleyball career. As you can imagine the Transfer Portal is not where I thought I would be as an incoming freshman. I am going to choose to look at this as an opportunity to do things I was unable to do during my COVID recruitment and possibly visit schools personally. I’m interested in schools that offer Anthropology, are a D1 level program, and that have availability for a strong pin hitter for 2022.

I finished my high school career as the Player of the Year with a .325 hitting percentage and 1,250 kills for my career.

I am in the Transfer Portal and you can contact me directly. My current school said they would release me from my current NLI obligation if I were to find an opportunity at the end of the semester.

2018 AVCA Phenom College Preparatory Program

Athletes named to the Phenom List have been identified by the AVCA as an elite student-athlete that has received some form of recognition for their outstanding play. The Phenom List is a collection of elite underclassmen that are invited to participate in the AVCA Phenom College Preparatory Program. For the seventh year, The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) will host the AVCA Phenom College Preparatory Program for underclassmen. This program will be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota from Thursday, December 13th - Sunday, December 16th in conjunction with the NCAA DI Women’s Volleyball Final Four and National Championship.

2018 USAV Indoor HP Championships

The HPC is expected to draw in excess of 100 teams and 1,200 athletes to Tulsa filling eight different age and gender championship brackets. The event showcases boys’ and girls’ teams from the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline, regional High Performance teams and 8-12 teams from foreign countries. In the last few years several youth and junior national teams have attended including those from the United States, Chile, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Peru, Canada, New Zealand and Mexico.

2018 USA Volleyball Indoor High Performance National Training Program - Continental Team
7/19/18 to 7/23/18
Athletes who come from regions that do not send a Region HP Team in their age group or older to the USA HPC’s are eligible for the USA Continental Team Program. Participating athletes train as a group for 5 days before splitting into ability-tiered teams of 12 for USA High Performance Championships immediately following training. Training is conducted by some of the top High Performance Pipeline Coaches in the country and features an intense international skill and system focus, including hands-on opponent scouting training. Teams are selected based on athlete performance during training. USA High Performance Championships is an international tournament hosted by USA Volleyball annually and features international teams from a myriad of countries plus Region High Performance teams from all over the United States. In the last two years, teams have come from Canada, Chile, China, Dominican Republic, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, and Puerto Rico. USA HP Championships is frequented by many college coaches across the country including the staff in the A1 Program, Continental Team Programs, and Region HP Programs, and by unaffiliated collegiate coaches attending to actively recruit at the tournament. Continental Teams typically compete in their own age group division (Youth Teams compete in the Youth Division).

The Girls’ Youth Holiday National Team Training Program will consist of players identified from 2018 Summer Programs and the tryout process as top performers in their position. The Holiday Program brings together these players along with top coaches to observe, train and develop the talent pool prior to starting the 2019 season. Athletes in attendance have been identified for potential contention of their age group National Team. Attending this program is an opportunity for coaches to have another evaluation touch point prior to tryouts in the 2019 Season but does not guarantee a sport on the National Team in the following year, or any other specific program level. Although the Holiday Program does not count as a 2019 Tryout, the five-day on-court evaluation of players weighs heavily on the determination of talent moving into 2019. Next year’s GYNT staff will be leading this training block with additional coaches from this summer’s HP Pipeline. With the 2018 GYNT qualifying for World Championships, continuing to train this age group at a high level before the summer of 2019 is critical to the team’s international success.
