Katie Herrington '20 Recruiting Profile

I have loved playing volleyball since I was a young girl. I love being active and moving around, and I hate losing. I have a passion for volleyball.  I'm determined, and this has enabled me to do what many can't. Volleyball is so enjoyable for me, and I know I'll never get tired of playing.  

   When I first started playing freshman year, our team wasn't very good. We didn't make it to the state tournament, nor were we anywhere close to making it. However, this taught me the importance of perseverance.  I decided to focus on becoming a better player and libero, and I especially worked to perfect my float serve.  Sophmore year, our team improved tremendously. All of the sudden, we were winning 90% of our games. We made it to state that year, but unfortunately, we were eliminated during the first round. This year, my junior year, we were even better. We were completely undefeated in our region. We made it to state and ended up tying for third after being barely beaten in the semi-finals. I am incredibly proud of my and the team's progress over these three years. This journey has taught me the importance of tenacity, and I know that I'll bring that kind of fire to any team I join.
