Personal Statement
I am very interested in continuing and growing my career in volleyball. I find an attachment to the intense and competitive nature of the sport and how mentally challenging it is. I am a setter for both my club and school team. Being in this position has allowed my leadership skills to flourish and has pushed me as a person to calm the chaos along with holding my team and myself accountable off and on the court. During my two-year high school career as setter on the Xavier College Preparatory Varsity Volleyball team, I am averaging 9.7 assists per set and 1748 total assists in 180 sets. This year, in the Covid shortened 2020-2021 season, I was Varsity team captain as a Junior and earned first team all-region selection as a setter. My club team AZEVJ 17N1 finished 3rd at USAV Girls Junior Nationals this year and I was also voted to the All-Tournament team!
The setting position has developed my ability to comprehend what is happening on both sides of the net in order to make the best decisions for my position and my team in high intensity situations. In pressure situations I enjoy the fast pace of the game and competitiveness that allows both teams to put their best foot forward when playing. I crave the opportunity to show those around me what I can do and highlight my skills. I am always willing to adjust my game and learn from my mistakes to be the best player I can be. My love for volleyball is evident by my constant pursuit of training and willingness to take constructive criticism along with learning more about the game and my position. I am looking for a school that challenges me both academically and athletically in my pursuit of continued growth and mentality to win...
