As I'm starting my grade 11 year, my biggest highlight in my high school career has probably been winning 2nd place at the Senior Girls AAA Provincial Championships. Another great highlight was being selected to train as an alternate setter for the BC Summer Games team in grade 9. This past year I made it to the Team BC tryouts and I had a great time training and competing with everyone there . Last year my junior girls volleyball team was undefeated before we made it to the Vancouver Island Championships and then we didn't end up qualifying for provincials. That experience made me learn and accept failure and to keep working hard to move forward. Since then, I have continued to work hard and focus on my strengths and weaknesses in my sport to make me into and stronger player. One obstacle I have, is the mental side of the game. Through this past year I have focused a lot on my confidence and I am proud that I have overcome my fears and I am now a more confident competitor on the court.
Going off to college or university I am looking at possibly taking some psychology courses about behavioural science and then coming back to Canada and joining the RCMP. I have a huge interest in becoming a police officer because I love helping others and making the world a safer place. I have always been a hard worker so I feel that this career option would be ideal for me. Living in a small town, I am very lucky to be working with some of the best coaches in Canada. Through the programs I am in, coached by Jesse Knight and Julie Young, I have learned a great work ethic, leadership and good teammates skills. These skills have helped me become a stronger player physically and mentally. Through training programs I am in, and the hard work and dedication I have, I am confident that I will make a great impact on your program!
