My goal is to play post secondary volleyball at a school that offers strong athletic and academic programs. I am a hardworking, competitive, ambitious and coachable player who will push myself in order to be successful in all aspects of life, particularly in athletics and academics. Team success is my top priority and my individual goals are set within the framework of team achievements. After seeing the great experiences my sister is having during her first year at university on a sand volleyball scholarship, I set a goal to achieve the same great success that she has. In order to achieve these goals, I am committed to training extensively both on and off the court. This includes weight lifting, nutrition and injury prevention.
Throughout my life I have been active in community service. My family went to Africa for three weeks to work at a village school when I was 12 and it was very life impacting. I also went to California with Athletes in Action which combined both urban community service with volleyball training. This spring, I am going to Fiji to work in very impoverished areas with a group from my school. I know that many college volleyball teams serve their communities in addition to training and I would be really enthusiastic about that.
I believe I have the time management skills to balance a rigorous training and travel schedule while achieving my academic goals. I recognize the commitment that this takes and I look forward to the chance to play in university.
Overall, I am looking to compete at the highest possible level in a positive community that seeks excellence in athletics and academics.
