Personal Statement
I am a well rounded individual. I have been in student government since elementary school holding multiple positions. This year I hold an elective office of treasurer of the senior class of 2018. I am in many clubs at school ranging from FCA to Key Club. Girl Scouts has been a huge part of my life since I was in kindergarten. On 9/11 of 2017, I received my Gold Award, which is the highest award given in Girl Scouts of America. Out of all the girls who are eligible to earn their Gold Award, only 5.4% achieve this Honor. To achieve this goal I created a Wall of Honor at my high school to acknowledge the many people who have decided to take a different path than the ones who attend college straight out of high school. With over 80 hours involved in this project the overall outcome was extremely emotional seeing all the families who have lost loved ones and many who are still continuing to serve the gratitude that they all showed was a feeling I can't describe. Being honored for the creation of this wall was something I didn't deserve the people who really deserve all the recognition are the countless names that are on and will continue to be put on the Wall of Honor. Along with all my extracurriculars, I pride myself on being an athlete. Playing volleyball is a huge passion that has given me a drive to succeed since I started playing in second grade. Volleyball has definitely shaped me into the person I am today, with countless hours of practice a week the amount of time, discipline and many disappointments has changed my life tremendously. Playing volleyball year round ranging from high school to club is one of the biggest commitments I have faced. One of the most exciting moments in my volleyball career thus far has been winning a Gold Medal at the Junior Olympics in the summer of 2016. Being apart of a team has taught me many valuable life lessons. Dealing with many types of people and coaching styles hasn't always been easy but seeing many different points of views has made me the person I am today. Although my schedule is busy and challenging I also have a part time job. Working at IHOP has given me the opportunity to deal with the public. Starting as a hostess and being promoted to food expeditor after just a few months was very gratifying. All of these attributes help me to be the perfect candidate to play volleyball in college.
