Zoe West Personal Statement
I am a hardworking team player who is dedicated to the sport of volleyball, academic excellence and serving my community. I am looking for an opportunity to be a valuable addition to a collegiate volleyball team with my skills, leadership ability, passion for the game and school spirit. My goal has always been to play for a college team while pursuing a degree and continuing to make positive contributions through volunteer work and community service.
I apply the same dedication to studying the game of volleyball as I apply to my academics. I believe that volleyball is as much a mental game as it is physical - knowing both your opponents and team members strengths and weaknesses, understanding how to read the players and the ball and quickly identifying a strategy are all critical components in successful game play. I feel that my experience as an Assistant Coach for a 14 Nationals team has had a positive impact on my personal game by improving my communication, leadership skills and ability to better understand team dynamics.
