Judith Uyanne '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Judith Uyanne. I am currently a Senior at St Joseph high school in Lakewood,California. I love sports and school. I started playing volleyball seriously in the 8th grade and now as a freshman was selected to play for varsity volleyball at st Joseph HS. I play as an outside/middle at Tstreet volleyball club.  What I particularly love about my club team & coach is that I am not only  being trained as a middle blocker but also other positions. My coach put emphasis on not to have tunnel vision and that a good defensive volleyball player should be able to play her/ his  position and be versatile to play other different positions.  Starting out as a 5’11”  middle blocker,  I can play this position very well as other position, I have switched to primarily an Oppo/Outside hitter position . I am passionate about the game and I work hard with any team to reach the ultimate common goal, to “win”.  To reach such goal requires sacrifice, hardworking, training  and having the proper mindset . I am willing to go the extra miles. Alongside of volleyball, I continue to play on the varsity track team of Saint Joseph, as a 400m runner, 300m hurdler, along with doing 4x4 and 4x1. What makes me a good candidate for both teams is that I give a positive energy to make sure that no one's playing is affected becuase something negative. Also, I am very involved in many activities such as being Vice President of our African-American Association  for three years at Saint Joseph , was Sophomore ASB class Vice President, and currently president of our Girls Athletics Association as well known as GAA. Academically I have maintained a an above 4.0 average and aspire to pursue medicine to become an Orthopedic Surgeon.
