Personal Statement
I have been passionate about volleyball, since I started playing club in the 3rd grade. The competitive club teams, elite coaches, and USAV high performance camps over the years gave me the tools that made me into the player I am today. Initially, I was upset to be chosen as an alternate on the Youth National preliminary training team last summer (2019), but it made me even more determined to want to play on a high-level collegiate Division I program.
I tore my ACL during my freshman year as a varsity basketball player. This gave me the opportunity to be an assistant coach for my club volleyball team for a season, giving me a different perspective for the game which I now am integrating what I learned during that period. Today, I can proudly say that the potentially career-ending injury transformed me into a stronger player, both physically and mentally, giving me a new-found respect for my coach’s vision, trainers, teammates and my entire support system. I am super competitive, have been told that I have short term memory (uniquely turn negative situations into to positive ones quickly), and pride the fact that I have always been praised on my coachability. The number of people who reached out to me and helped me recover from my injury, humbled me. I want to pursue a career in physical therapy/training, or medical field helping others, like my doctors, trainers and coaches helped during my difficult recovery period.
Thank you for taking the time to review this and I look forward to hearing from you.
