Personal Statement
My name is Alisha Vasanji and I am a senior Middle Blocker at Pioneer High School. As a kid I did both Bollywood and Classical Indian dance, and swam competitively.
Freshman year I never touched a volleyball but seeing that volleyball is a family sport for me I decided to try out for my school's freshman volleyball team. After playing for my team I quickly learned that volleyball was my passion. My school team taught me the basics for volleyball but I wanted to learn more so I tried out for a club team. I made the 16-1 travel team, at 14 years old, which is where my career as middle blocker started. This experience enhanced my skills and amplified my love for the game of volleyball. The next year came tryouts for Varsity Volleyball. When I made the team as a starting middle blocker I realized that my dedication and perseverance paid off. Playing Varsity ball was a totally different experience where I learned even more. My junior year, I was a starter for my varsity team and played at MVVC on their 17 travel(red) team. This year I will be playing for MVVC's 18 red team. I have been working harder than ever to exceed in my position. I use my ability to learn quickly and push through the hardest of times to play the best game I possibly can. I am always open to learn new ways to enhance my playing and never like to give up. Playing Women's College Volleyball isn't a dream but a goal I want to reach.
