For 10 years, I dedicated myself to the sport of gymnastics and at level 7 and age 13, I decided I needed a change. In the latter half of 8th grade, volleyball was introduced at my middle school; I tried out for and made the team. This introduction was very positive and when I entered high school in 9th grade, I tried out for JV volleyball and also made that team. My JV season was fantastic and I fell in love with the sport. JV taught me how to go from being an individual athlete to being a team athlete; I had learned how to work better with others. Things continued to improve because in my sophomore year, I made the varsity team. This is where I started to seriously consider playing volleyball in college. School, however, is always my first priority. I have been told many times that I'm too short and I reply with: “I guess I’ll just have to be the best” But I'm human, I am fallible and I have self-doubt but I pull myself up and help others pull themselves up too. That is a type of person that needs to be on the court.
