I began playing volleyball on a 6th grade intramural team just because it looked like a lot of fun. Six years later, I continue to play because I love the teamwork, competition and intensity of the game. I strive to be the one that people remember at the end of a match.
My coaches describe me as a fierce competitor and a gifted natural athlete. I have played six years for two of the top volleyball clubs in Southern California and have been the #1 outside hitter for my past four club teams. For my high school varsity team, I was a starter and an all-conference selection as a sophomore, junior and senior. This year I had the honor of serving as captain for the second straight season and was awarded the team's most valuable offensive player. I was also captain of our freshman team three years ago.
I also played softball in high school. My primary position was center field, but I started at catcher my freshman and sophomore years because of my athletic ability and strong arm. Although I did not have time to balance two club sports, I was recruited by several club teams including OC Batbusters, an elite program in Southern California, and I have been told I have the talent to be a college-level player.
Athletics run in my family. My father and uncle both played Division I college baseball, my grandfather qualified for the NCAA championships in swimming and my great-grandfather was an All-State high school baseball and basketball player. I want to be the next in my family to play sports in college.
Academics are as important to me as sports. I am an A student at a top-performing high school and my coursework includes multiple AP and Honors courses. My goal is to contribute to a winning team while attending a university that will fulfill my academic aspirations.
