My name is EJ Day. As a starting 6 rotation OH/RS on my high school varsity team at Yucca Valley High School in California, I was selected as 2016 De Anza League Offensive MVP, 2016 De Anza All- League First Team, and recognized as a scholar athlete during my freshman year in which our team finished with a 19-5 record (8-2 league) and reached CIF division quarterfinals. For the 2017 club season, I will be playing an age division up and will play on Rancho Valley 16-Premier which is coached by Kim Cherniss of Cal State San Bernardino. I have been invited as top 48 in my age division to participate in the USAV HP National Team Prospect Training Block for a second year in a row and I previously had the amazing opportunity to go to the USAV HP A1 program in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from July 14-24, 2016 and was a starting RS for the USA Girls’ Select A1 Stars in the 2016 High Performance Championships where we finished 11th place in the youth division, an older age group division. Academically, I have been maintaining a 3.8/higher GPA and will continue to uphold those standards. Along with volleyball and academics, family is very important to me. My parents are always there to support me and I always want to set a positive example for my younger sister and brother, 5 and 3. My family has taught me to stay positive, treat others with respect, and work hard 100% of the time. As a member of a military family that has moved every 2 or 3 years throughout my life, I have learned to adapt to different teaching, coaching and program styles and to work well with other students and players. I am a hard-working, versatile, and dedicated athlete who aspires and is determined to play at the collegiate level. My college choices are not limited by geographic location or division, but what will eventually be the best fit for me as a student-athlete.
