Personal Statement
I would pride myself on three characteristics that I exercise daily, hard work, compassion, and perseverance. These three characteristics are at the core of who I am as a person and an athlete. Whether I am in the classroom or on the court, I strive to put 100% effort into everything I am doing and learning. I believe that I can always be better. A better student, a better athlete, and most importantly a better teammate. I understand and value the fact that my decisions impact my teammates. Understanding this and maintaining this mentality makes it easy for me to work hard, be involved on and off the court, and support my teammates around me.
I truly try to challenge myself in everything I do. Athletically I work hard in practice and off the court. I believe that one reason why I stand out as an athlete is because I am always willing to push for the extra mile, often times without being asked. This is not confined to pushing my self just physically. I push myself to be one of the loudest and most caring teammates out on the court. I constantly remind myself that you win and lose as a team. I love winning, but also appreciate what I and the team can learn through some tough losses. I have always pushed myself academically and have a strong balance as a student athlete.
I love volleyball and have for a long time! I love how complex the game is and how much work you put into learning it and becoming a versatile player. As a strong all around player, I am extremely coach-able. I take criticism well and work hard to persevere through any challenges I face. Being strong and skilled physically is equally as important to me as being consistent academically, and a cooperative and motivated team player.
