Personal Statement

Hi there! My name is Jessee Grubesic. I am from Savannah, GA, where I attend Savannah State University. I am a 5'9 setter, and I am looking to be apart of a Program for my grad year.

From previous years, I committed to Saint Peters University my freshman year. I wanted to be at the D1 level and get my name out there to look to transfer. My freshman season didn't happen from COVID-19. As my sophomore season was coming, SPU mandated the Vaccine to play in the MAAC and to attend school. Since the vaccine didn't follow my family's morals, I decided that my morals were more than playing at a D1 school. A friend contacted me of summer of 2021 who played volleyball at San Diego Christian College (NAIA). I talked to the Coach of SDCC about what had happened my previous year and told me he couldn't put me on their indoor team, but their beach volleyball team. So I was fortunate enough to learn and compete in Beach Volleyball up and down the coast of California.

My junior year came, and I quite honestly missed indoor and more of a competitive level. I am originally from Colorado and my parents made the move to Georgia while I was at SDCC. I wanted to be home and find a school that was close. I was in contact with the Coach at Savannah State, and since then all went smoothly. I transition into SSU and have been there for 2 years.

I am now trying to find a school to succeed to get my Master and be able to play one more time. I have one more year of eligibility from my COVID year, and I am looking to put good use to it.

Thank you for your time and let's make fall 2024 a good season!

Jessee Grubesic

  • To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter on behalf of Jesse Grubesic, a junior at Denver South High School. I am the Director of Colorado Volleyball Association and Jesse is a member of our 17 Mizuno team (one of the top teams in our program and the team I also coach). I have known Jesse for years and have watched her grow as a person and an athlete. Jesse is a goal oriented, dedicated and self-motivated individual. Her work ethic is outstanding. She rises to the occasion and is at her best when her best is needed. Her competitive nature makes her an outstanding performer under pressure. She also displays sportsmanship at all times and is an excellent role model. Jesse is a tremendous leader and understands the importance of leading by example. She is well respected by her teammates and is extremely unselfish. She works very hard as a setter/defensive specialist because our program needs her to play these positions to have the best opportunity to be successful. Her willingness to do this is an example of her unselfishness and commitment to her team. She is quite possibly the most unselfish, team focused athlete that I have ever coached! She is a well-rounded individual with multiple interests and is highly successful in all the things she does. Jesseis well disciplined, courteous, responsible and extremely reliable. As the Director of CVA I believe Jesse epitomizes what a student/athlete should be. She possesses the qualities necessary to excel in college and in her future career. I give her my highest recommendation with no reservations. Sincerely, Shawn Copple Director of Volleyball Operations Colorado Volleyball Association
  • 2018 Colorado Volleyball Association (First Team- Roshambo 16)
  • To Whom it May Concern: My name is Danni Jenkins, and I am the 16 Roshambo coach at Colorado Volleyball Association. I am honored to write this letter of recommendation for Jessee Grubesic. Jessee joined the CVA 16R team this year as a transfer from another local club. She was immediately noticed at a tryout of more than 70 girls for her outstanding effort and natural athleticism. She stood out as a coachable and positive player who seemed excited to be in the gym working hard. In my first interactions with her it was clear she had an energy and positivity about her that was contagious. Since joining this team, Jessee has become an obvious leader. She has quickly acclimated to a new system of technique and culture, proving her coachability goes beyond the tryout. Jessee is a fierce competitor who clearly exertes the effort necessary as she continues to compete. In my thirteen years of coaching girls volleyball, Jessee stands out as a player who has a presence. She is the heartbeat of our 2018 CVA 16 Roshambo team. She encourages and demands the best out of her teammates, especially in effort and determination. Jessee is a strong and mature communicator; advocating for herself, asking questions, and demonstrating flexibility for the betterment of the team. She is a true team player who will lay it all out on the line for her teammates, and is willing to step outside of her comfort zone to improve her personal skills and for the success of her teammates. Jessee is a dynamic athlete whose work ethic and passion are only matched by her humble and genuine personality. She truly touches the lives of the people around her as she is passionate and kind. As an older athlete in the gym, Jessee takes her role as a leader to the younger athletes very seriously. She always works hard, leads by example, and goes out of her way to encourage the people around her. It is such a please to know that Jessee is pursuing a volleyball career in college, and even more exciting for me to serve as a reference for her. Any collegiate program would benefit from her vivacious vibes, passion, and coachability. I strongly recommend Jessee as you explore 2020 recruits. Please contact me if you have any questions or if I can get you any further information regarding Jessee. Thank you. Sincerely, Danni Jenkins Colorado Volleybal Association [email protected]
