I'm Kayla Dondero and I would love to play volleyball competitively in college. I'm primarily a Setter/RS but I have played Outside Hitter and Middle at the competitive level. Playing multiple positions has helped me gain a better understanding of the game and made me a better all-around player. I feel like my size and versatility make me an asset to any team I play for.
My biggest focus for this upcoming season is to continue to work on my technique, including improving my jump setting and tempo, utilizing my size and athleticism to become a more physical setter.
This past year was a challenge with school and volleyball always changing. Being flexible, focused, and organized helped me get through it and I had my best year, both athletically and academically.
Growing up in an athletic family I played many different sports which I feel contributed to me becoming an all-around player. I've played softball, soccer, competitive basketball, swimming, Track (200-meter dash), and Field(High Jump), and have won my age group in 3 of 4 youth triathlons I've competed in.
Academics have always been a priority in our family and I've worked hard to get good grades. This past year, my first year of High School, I was able to earn a 4.07 GPA taking AP and Honors classes. Finding a college that will challenge me academically is a high priority.
I'm interested in studying Healthcare or Business in college with the goal of being a Nurse.
During the Covid shutdown, I started my own business, Tiger Lily Jewelry, making handmade jewelry.
I'm looking forward to finding a school that is the best fit for me athletically and academically!
