Personal Statement
My life began in Greeley, December 8, 2000. Ever since I have lived in Kersey, Colorado where I have learned the Bronco ways at Platte Valley. At the age of five my parents handed me a volleyball and instantly I gained passion and love for the game. I continued to play in middle school where I not only represented my school for volleyball, but also track as well. I always loved to run and even in my younger years Iran for Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics. However, I grew older and found the wonders of club volleyball. Over the years, track and club started to conflict and I had to make a choice. Volleyball was my choice. When I step on the court I leave all of my feelings except the love for the game behind. It's as if there is nothing but my team, a ball, and I.
For my high school season, I was a starter on varsity, where I started a tad shy but quickly grew to out of that. As a team we fought our way to state where we lost our first match to Eaton. Even though we lost I was very proud to play the team because as a competitor I enjoy playing tough teams. At the end I was awarded the most improved by a team vote. I will always remember my coaches asking if I could jump any higher, and all the compliments on my vertical. Mainly I played outside and even started to work on running many different plays; such as, slides and fours. However, in the middle of the season one of our middles got injured in which I decided to step up and fill the position. Over all, I had a great season and I feel very accomplished.
As for club, I have been playing for five years, going on six. For four of those years I have been under the direction of Rob Reynard. Previously I have traveled to Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and California. This year I will be playing for VC Evolution for the USA division, and Colorado Volleyball Alliance for the AAU where I will adventure to not only Las Vegas, but also Florida. For both clubs, I will be filling the outside position.
Off the court, I am dedicated to not only my family, but my academics. My club is two hours away from home and I don’t get back till about eleven o'clock at night; however, that does not stop me from completing my work. Some nights I find myself up till about two in the morning doing my homework because my grades are very important to me. Fun fact, my favorite subject in school is math even though I see the people around me grow to hate it. As a challenge, I made the decision to take college algebra as a junior.
I grew up in a very athletic family of seven. I have always been and always will be a big family person. My parents are my number one fans and I appreciate everything they do for me; therefore, they will have the biggest impact on my choice of college. For six years they have stuck by my dreams of not only playing volleyball in college, but, becoming a lawyer. Growing up I witnessed may false accusations and I have seen many decent hearted people turn cold because of such accusations. Ever since I could talk I have always wanted to help others and as I grew I realized what other way to do so, then to study law. My plan is to travel the world making a difference with the knowledge of criminal defense laws, but hopefully all laws. I would very much enjoy opening my own firm which consists of all kinds of lawyers from corporate lawyers to family lawyers.
I thank you personally for taking the time to read my personal statement. I hope you enjoy my profile and I would love to hear from you soon!
