Personal Statement
I grew up in a supportive family through a religious lifestyle and sports which significantly helped me discover who I am and guide me on my journey. When I was little, I wanted to find my way in life. I often thought through how I am supposed to be remembered, where is my heart and passion, what sport is my sport? I tried every sport except basketball. Why not basketball? I never made it that far. I found volleyball and that was the end to all other sports, I had fell in love with volleyball and the happiness and desire I had for it. I have learned passion/work ethic, trust, and communication are the fundamentals in what is needed to be successful. Without passion and work ethic talent is nothing. Without trust (a two-way street) nothing can be done because it destroys confidence and eliminates the power to play to your full potential with a team as a cohesive unit and family. Without communication nothing is possible. Communication is a major building block to all things and in every aspect of a team sport. My academic goal throughout the rest of my studies is to do my best in all I do and if I have a passion, a dream or a desire to do something, go do it because you only live once. Through my volleyball career I have overcome the obstacle of tearing my ACL and meniscus. I tore my ACL and meniscus sometime before the end of my freshman year. I had surgery on June 3, 2017 and I then sat out my sophomore year to recover and heal properly. I have developed skills that include coach-ability, passion and work ethic that have driven my love for volleyball and finding my way in life in being myself.
