Personal Statement
My name is Maddie Zordan and I am a 5'10" setter/opposite from Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, CT. I am a member of the Class of 2021. As a freshman, I was a starter for the JV team and became a swing toward the end of the season. I have been a member of the varsity team since my sophomore year and a starter during my junior year. I am also a starter for the Northwest Juniors club team out of Torrington, CT.
In addition, I have been an alpine ski racer for the past 7 years and have been involved in various clubs and community groups which requires me to be very organized and focused when juggling a hectic schedule. I am a hard worker and always strive to put forth my very best effort whether on the court or in the classroom. I have had to overcome injuries as well as academic challenges due to the fact that I am dyslexic. I need to study longer and harder than many of my peers to complete my coursework but my positive attitude has definitely helped me stay focused and not lose sight of my goals.
I am looking for a college that has a welcoming community that will continue to challenge me academically. I am hoping to study business as well as criminology with the ultimate goal of a career in law enforcement. I believe I would be a valuable asset to a collegiate volleyball program because I am an athletic person with a strong work ethic, a caring personality and a willingness to work with a team to reach a common goal.
