Dear Prospective Colleges:
My name is Katie Callenberger. I am a Senior at Merritt Island High School in Merritt Island, Florida. In 2020, I was a third year Varsity Starter and team captain. During my high school career my team won the 6A Florida State Championship in 2018. We have also finished in the state region quarter finals in 2019 and 2020. Our 2019 beach team also won State.
I am a middle blocker and have sometimes played right-side/ opposite. I have played club volleyball for 5 seasons with Cape Coast Volleyball Club. As of February 2021, our team Cape Coast 17U Titan is ranked 19th in the State .
Academically I am dual enrolled student. I am currently taking AP classes at high school and also take classes at the local college. I feel I have benefited from this schedule as I am taking a rigorous academic schedule while playing volleyball and maintaining a 4.2 GPA. Right now I am looking to major in chemistry, forensic science or psychology.
I am the youngest in my family and have 2 sisters, 2 brothers, and 2 dogs. My interest in volleyball started with my family. My mom was a college player and now coaches for the club and also is a USA official. My sisters Gwen and Emily both played volleyball in high school. I had the opportunity to play with Emily during her last two seasons as a high school volleyball player and I am forever grateful to have that experience, especially winning a State Championship with her.
I am interested in a program that I can contribute to a Conference Championship Title. I am dedicated and looking forward to new opportunities and challenges.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little bit about me.
