Personal Statement
I am a high school junior and was accepted into the Fleming Island High School AICE Academy of Advanced Studies Program program in my freshman year. In addition to maintaining a vigorous pre-university curriculum provided by Cambridge University in England, I have played in both my school volleyball team and my club team year round.
Growing up, I played baseball, basketball and volleyball but I found that volleyball is what I have a passion for. I have been playing volleyball for over 7 years, first at my local YMCA and then discovering club volleyball when my family transferred from Hawaii to Florida. I currently play for Black Creek Volleyball Club in Clay County Florida as an outside hitter. I may not be the loudest on the team, but I lead by example - hard work and consistency is where I stay focused to help my team excel in each and every game we play. I believe that one person does not make a team, it requires each and every one of us to work together to succeed.
The AICE program at Fleming Island is making it possible for me to succeed as a student athlete. The hard work and discipline that I need to succeed on and off the court translates every day into the course work that I complete in this program. The end result will be a well prepared student in college and in life. My ultimate goal is to play the volleyball in college, but regardless of whether or not I play, I look forward to meeting the many challenges that college life will bring.
