Personal Statement
The first time I started playing volleyball was in the summer before 7th grade. My mom felt it would be good for me to give volleyball a try since it was right after my family moved because my dad was transferred from his duty station in Norfolk, Virginia to Jacksonville, Florida. Due to being in a military family and having to move around a lot, I have learned to earn my position on to a new team, adapt to new teammates and be willing to work hard both on and off the court. I got started in the sport later than most of the girls that I met when we moved here, but that did not stop my motivation to be the best player that I can be. In fact I believe it pushed me to work much harder, have a desire to learn quickly, remain positive and coachable.
Although I am interested in a few different academic programs, the field of media/TV/film productions grabs my attention and I would love to learn more about voice acting. I especially love TV and film related to DC Comics. I've enjoyed balancing the academic demands of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and Honors Vocal Chorus at Ridgeview High School (RHS) with my athletic commitments to RHS varsity sports teams. I hope to continue playing during my college years while earning my degree.
