I owe my 5^th grade math teacher a debt of gratitude since it was her that got me started on my volleyball journey. Though I had primarily played soccer up to that point, and knew nothing about volleyball at the time, she encouraged me to try out for the team. She said I was a good athlete and would make a good volleyball player. Though I didn’t play much that first year, I caught the bug for the sport and couldn’t wait to play again.  I asked my parents if I could sign up for club coaching following the season and I dedicated myself to getting better. I improved quickly once I started getting club level coaching and playing volleyball year round.  That first year of club ball was very tough for me because I am very competitive and hated losing very much.  My team lost a lot that first year and though it was very tough for me as a competitor I grew tremendously as a player.  I learned the value of teamwork and camaraderie in battling through tough circumstances. It was during that frustrating club season that I realized how much I loved volleyball.  While I hated losing, I developed a great bond with my teammates and dedicated myself to improving so I could play better and tougher competition.   My hard work payed off after two years and made the 15's National team!

                I know that I still have a lot of growing to do in order to achieve my long-term goals. I understand  that I’m not a finished product and will continue to improve as a player and as a leader. I do think I have the talent and athleticism to compete at the college level. I believe I see the court well and have a great understanding of the game. I’m looking for a program that will allow me to grow as a player, develop as a person and compete at the highest level my ability can take me.
