Personal Statement
I have loved the sport of volleyball ever since I first started on my school team at the age of nine. I continued to play through middle school, working on many different skills over the years. My team won back to back championships in my 7th and 8th grade years. More recently, as a freshman, I was selected to play on my high school Varsity team as the starting Outside Hitter and a Defensive Specialist enabling me to play all around in every game. My team won the 3A GHSA Region Championship and I was the only freshman awarded the honor of making the All Greater Savannah Volleyball 2nd Team. I ended the season with 260 kills and 79 aces, putting me at the top of my 2023 class for Georgia 3A.
My club volleyball experience began at age 12 and this is my fourth season playing for Club Savannah on their highest level Adidas National team for my age. During each of these seasons, I was fortunate to achieve the role of an all around player as the starting Outside Hitter and a Defensive Specialist. I am well suited for the OH position because I love the aggressive kills and I like to “read” the opposing teams to set up blocks and avoid being blocked.
This club season, my coaches, Teri Scott and Matt Linebarger chose me to be the captain of our team. It has been a great honor and learning experience for me. I appreciate their confidence in me to lead the team. In particular, Coach Linebarger has been instrumental in my development and understanding of the game.
While volleyball is my passion, excellent academics are always at the forefront of my goals. I currently have a 97.33 GPA while taking all Honors classes and AP World History. I attend a very competitive and nationally ranked performing arts school that requires excellent academics as well as a gifted art talent. In addition, I am a member of the Bella Voce choir as a Soprano 1, I love to perform in musical theater productions and I have enjoyed playing the piano for the last five years. More recently, I have been able to combine my love for the arts and community service by creating organization called Savannah Arts Academy Performance Outreach. SAA students in the program visit nursing homes sharing their artistic talents. It is a privilege to see the amazing response residents have to the students’ performances.
I have learned over the years that hard work and effort are the keys to success. I use these tools on the court, in life and in the classroom to push myself to be the best teammate, player, student and person I can be.
