Aloha (Hi) my name is Christine "Hoku" Martins from the Big Island of Hawaii. I am 14 years old, freshman attending Kamehameha schools Hi. Volleyball has been my prime sport since I was in the first grade, since then I grew a very strong passion for the game. From playing in the 8U, my team has entered into many tournaments that were older than our actual division, like the 10U, when we got older, we would also play the adults. I feel like if you want to get better, you need to play at the level above you and learn from it. Personally, I take this sport seriously and enjoy seeing my improvements over time. On days where there isn't practice, I like to do things that'll benefit me on the court, like my coach says, "as long as you go to the same practice, at the same time the girl next to you does, you won't out beat her". From as long as I can remember, playing college ball has been on my bucket list, I am now working on checking it off. My ultimate goal is to get out there and experience everything at a higher level. I have always seen myself as a dedicated hard worker with a lot to live for. When making a mistake, I'll notice right away and try to fix it. On the court, I love to lift others up and see them confident with themselves. Athletics come a long way, but so does academics. In school, I try my hardest to keep my grades stable. In everything that I do, I always try to give it 115%. I do what I do for my family, to give my younger sibling the motivation that he can go far with his sport as well. I try my best in hope of succeeding at the end despite all the hard work , tears, and fights. I hope you consider me!
Thank you! - Hoku
