Personal Statement
When I was young, I didn't like sports. I never imagined I'd be a high school athlete, let alone a high school athlete looking to play in college. I never thought that I would fall in love with this sport or be willing to sacrifice so much for it, or that I would be a four year varsity player, a scholar athlete, or receive any of the awards that I have. I never thought I would go to such great lengths to do what I love. But I guess that is what sets me apart.
I try to bring positivity to the court whenever possible; I am motivated by success. I don't train for hours each week to avoid failure, but because I want to succeed. I want to experience that feeling when my team wins a tough match or when I make a great play. Failure is inevitable, so I view it as a way to help me grow rather than a detriment. I truly believe that I would not be the athlete I am today if it weren't for this mindset.
My family and friends say I am driven, dedicated, and persistent. My family knows better than anyone how much I sacrifice for this sport and how much it means to me. I dove head first into this sport and never looked back. I want to achieve greatness, and I don't plan on straying from that path.
