Personal Statement
Being around friends during sports is what really what made me the person I am today. I first became interested in volleyball when I was 8 years old and Coach Mann started a camp for beginners. Ever since then volleyball has been my favorite sport. Volleyball taught me how to be competitive and respectful at the same time. It also taught me how to be a leader and deal with pressure situations. My high school and college goals are to make friends, get the best grades possible and continue to grow as a volleyball athlete. I have been extremely blessed to not have any major injuries from sports. I am a multi-sport athlete that has to manage time and priorities on a regular basis. Every athlete develops certain characteristics. Blocking and hitting are definitely my strong points. My team has always said that I never bring the team down. I just play for each point because one mistake won’t lose the game but 25 mistakes will. So far, I have had many accomplishments. Sixth grade year my volleyball team went to state, eighth grade year we went to sectionals, freshman year I received my varsity award, spirit award and became the school record holder for 102 blocks in one season. My club team has now competed at the JVA world twice and AAU Nationals once. I also made the Illinois team for USA Junior Nationals in 2018. My main position is middle for my current teams, but I also have experience with being a right side hitter. In college, I wish to continue on a volleyball team and experience even more accomplishments along the way.
