Personal Statement
Not making the team after my first club tryout was a motivating factor for me to continue to work hard and improve. I dedicated all my time to working non-stop to become comfortable with my abilities and eventually became the starting setter for my club team. This experience helped me grow and I proved to myself what I am capable of doing when I really want something. I consider myself a leader on the floor, always encouraging my team and reassuring them “we got this”. I have been truly humbled that in my Freshmen year in high school I have been picked to be a starter on the Varsity team. This has allowed me to play a new position as an outsider hitter in addition to my starting setter role on Junior Varsity. This transition has shown me the versatility I have and my willingness to adapt when needed.
I have been very lucky to have some amazing mentors in my life who have kept me grounded on the volleyball court and in the classroom. I have found a true volleyball and academic balance that helps me succeed on and off the court. I want to maintain a strong academic record and transition into college with a school that will continue to challenge me both athletically and academically. I know this is only the beginning for me!
