Personal Statement
My name is Ella Cohen-Richie, and I'm a 5"9 class of 24' outside, opposite, and setter. Currently, I am a sophomore at the University of Chicago Laboratory School where I have started on the varsity since my freshman year. I am a hardworking athlete, team player, and team leader. This year, I helped my team secure our first conference championship in 17 years. While winning the conference was special, what I really loved was going into the gym every day with my teammates and putting in the work to get better as a team and as individual players.
Even though I'm a sophomore, I know that I want to play volleyball in college. Ever since I started this sport, it was clear to me and the people around me that I love volleyball. It always teaches me something new about myself and provides ways that I can get better as a player and a person. I am looking for a school that will challenge me both as a player and a student. I am also looking for a school that values diversity, as well support among players and between players and coaches. I can guarantee any coach that I will show up each day and give you my all, bringing my drive and energy to each practice and each play!
