Personal Statement
A great player starts with a love for the game. I believe that focus and determination are the building blocks to a great player and teammate. I am a hard worker both on and off the court and will continue to push myself to become the best version of myself. Staying positive regardless of the score helps to generate a positive vibe to keep mistakes to a minimum. Praising your teammates when they are doing well and supporting them through their mistakes provides a solid foundation for any team. As Libero, I strive to be a leader to my teammates. My goal is to be on a team where everyone shows up mentally and physically for not only games but practices as well. The motto ‘You play like you practice’ is more than a motto, it is an attitude. Although the ultimate goal is to win and to push each other to become the best person, player and teammate we can be, it is also important to enjoy the process.
As the baby sister to two older brothers who have played various sports, I was often dragged along to all of the practices and games. It seems inevitable that I was raised with a competitive spirit. My oldest brother played hockey at an elite level for 15 years. My other brother also played, including baseball, soccer, hockey and golf. My passion for volleyball and to be part of a team was instilled at an early age. I have already made various accomplishments in my high school volleyball career, including playing Varsity since Freshman year and making the 2nd All-Conference Team Sophomore year. As a Junior this year, I made the All-Tournament Team at the Edwardsville Tournament and the 1st All-Conference Team. Another huge milestone this year was reaching 1,000 career Varsity digs! I hope to continue to add to these accomplishments during my next, and final, high school season. My ultimate goal and dream is to continue to pursue my love and passion of volleyball on a college level.
