Personal Statement

My name is Kennedy Freeman and I have been playing volleyball for seven years.  The sport seems to come naturally to me but I always strive to get better at the game.  My family introduced me to club volleyball when I was 10 years old.   The club season prepared me for school volleyball.  I was the captain of my middle school team and my teammates always looked to me for encouragement.  In high school, I played on the freshman A team and then for junior varsity (JV) in my sophomore year.

In my junior year, I experienced what seemed like a minor setback at first.  I was asked to play JV for another year.  I was upset because I wanted to move on with my peers and play on the varsity team.  There was a lot noise in the air.  People were talking and asking why I didn't make the varsity team.   At times, it felt humiliating but I ignored all the negativity and I was determined not to give up!  I love volleyball! I worked even harder and I was determined to have a good season playing for JV.  This minor setback turned out to be one of my best volleyball experiences.  I got the opportunity to take on a leadership position on the team.  I started every game and I pushed my team to some really fun victories.  As an athlete, I listen to my coaches and I love when they offer suggestions on my playing style/technique.

I am focused, driven and extremely determined to meet my goals; on and off the court.  My goal is to play volleyball throughout college and to continue creating more exciting and memorable volleyball experiences.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
